Welcome to The Michael Morpurgo Class!
I, Miss Scrivens and Miss Brooks would like to give you the warmest welcome to this new academic year! After the turbulent year we have all had up to now, it is nice to have some semblance of normality – especially for you, the children! So, we are hoping you are all as raring to go as we are – it’s going to be a busy year! We really are looking forward to sharing the learning journey we will embark on this year and helping you to discover your full potential with pride and happiness.
Our ‘Class Author’ this term is Philip Pullman, author of well-known books such as The Ruby in the Smoke, Northern Lights and the Firework Maker’s Daughter – we can’t wait to learn more about him!
This year, we will also be continuing our focus on our 5Rs to Learning: Being Resilient, Responsible, Reflective, Relational and Reasoned learners. Everyone at West Melton Primary believe these are integral to being productive and successful learners.
We have a very exciting year ahead of us filled with opportunities to develop our skills and learn lots of new ones. We are especially looking forward to working together as a team and sharing our successes with each other.
Miss Scrivens and I are always available at the end of a school day, so if any concerns arise surrounding your child’s learning, then please do approach us! No concern is too small!
P.E lessons will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays, and the children are allowed to come into school in their P.E kits for the entire day.
May I also ask that all children in Year 6 read at least three times a week – this is integral to their success this year. I would also significantly advise we continue practising the full times tables and statutory spellings for years 5 and 6 at regular intervals – no learning is ever too small! Homework will also be set regularly for the children to revise their learning from home – please strive to complete it all!
We can’t wait to help build on your Curiosity, Creativity and Opportunities for learning this year – Let’s get back to it!
