Mayors Musical Showcase
The Mayors Musical Showcase was a charity event that the choir were invited to perform at.
They had the opportunity of singing on stage to the new mayoress and several other schools and invited members of public who attended the event.
The choir sang and danced beautifully and received a standing ovation from the crowd afterwards. We are very proud of them all.
Young Voices 2017
The Choir, Mrs Norris, Mrs Arnold and Mrs Foster had an amazing time at the Young Voices concert at Sheffield Arena, joining over 5000 other pupils to sing and dance their hearts out.
It was another magical experience, with wonderful performances from one of the UK's most endearing and popular soul/jazz artists, singer-songwriter, Natalie Williams, the beatbox collective and urban strides. The choir also enjoyed rocking with X Factor's Tabby O'Callaghan.
It was another night to remember and we were very proud the fantastic spirit and attitudes of our wonderful choir.
2015 One Voice Concert
Our Choir thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Once Voice concert at New York Stadium. It was a fantastic party atmosphere and extra special for our school this year as we were given a special slot to perform the Choir's winning song. They sang it with confidence and passion and were complimented by Toyah Wilcox afterwards for their performance.
It was a fantastic event and a great way to end the children's festival. We are so proud of the choir's achievements this year.
Choir performs on Radio Sheffield!
The Choir reached a whole new level of stardom after their performance on Radio Sheffield.
Mr Baird spoke about how excited and talented the pupils were and their success and commitment to the children's festivals and events. A few pupils were asked questions about the types of songs the choir sang, which were answered with enthusiasm!
Well done, very proud of you all.
Song Writing Competition
Further exciting news - our choir has won Rotherham's song writing competition!
Their song 'This is the Day' has been voted as the winning song and will be performed by all the Rotherham schools who take part in the One Voice concert in July. We are extremely proud of our talented and creative pupils!
Choir sings at Rotherham Minster
The choir were invited to perform at Rotherham Minster during an event that was organised by the music service and attended by the Mayor. The performance was also broadcasted live on Radio Nightingale.
They sang three songs - a lively pop medley, a beautiful performance of 'When I think of the cross' and finished with a grand finale of an African medley. Well done to Megan, Joy and Shaun for your stunning solo performances. They were all fantastic once again and looked very smart in their new choir shirts.
Thanks to all the parents who were able to attend this fantastic event.
Young Voices 2015
This week the Choir went to the Young Voices Concert at Sheffield arena.
It was yet again another amazing experience for the Choir to participate in. Nothing can prepare you for the sound of thousands of children singing in harmony. Young Voices combines the power of singing together as one, with accompaniment from a wide range of musicians and artists, to create an amazing performance. David Lawrence was conducting for the 16th year and entertaining choreographer Andy Instone got children, teachers and parents up on their feet and grooving again. Urban Strides were fantastic as per unusual and wowed the audience with their tricks. This year Lucy Spraggan entertained us with her quirky, original songs. Lucy gained an immediate musical status after her first X-Factor audition.
For many of the Choir this year, it was their first time at a young voices concert, and after such an amazing time, I don't think it will be their last!
Christmas Market Choir Competition 2014
Our Choir had a fantastic day at the RCAT theatre, working with theatre study students in the morning to produce short drama pieces to music based on the classic story 'The Wind in the Willows'. They went on to perform two songs in the centre of Rotherham Market, competing against 5 other school choirs. They all sang like angels and other shoppers were drawn into join their audience with their beautiful performance - earlier that day, they had reduced the staff to tears with their singing.
West Melton Choir were voted the winning choir by a panel of judges and have received £100 for the school and a special performance slot in the One Voice Concert. We are SO proud of them all.
One Voice Concert 2014
The children's Festival ended with the second One Voice concert held at New York Stadium. Our choir thoroughly enjoyed the event, performing a range of well known songs with thousands of other children from other Rotherham Schools. Toyah Wilcox performed for the second year during the concert. It was a wonderful way to end another fantastic and successful festival.
Young Voices Concert 2014
The school choir once again took part in the annual Young Voices Concert at Sheffield Motorpoint Arena. The concert as usual was fantastic, with 5000 children from all over the north of England all singing together for a packed audience.
One Voice Concert 2013
The school choir took part in the 'One Voice' concert held at New York Stadium on 5th July. They were part of a choir of 1900 children from schools across Rotherham. The children all worked very hard to learn the songs for the concert, which was the last event of this year's Children's Festival. The sun shone, and a fantastic time was had by all!
